Hyoungjin works on next-generation Wi-Fi standards and the application of machine learning to wireless communication systems. He contributes to IEEE 802.11 standardization in integrated millimeter wave (IMMW) and beyond ultra high reliability (UHR). His current research interest is applying machine learning and deep learning techniques to signal processing enhancement.
Prior to joining Ofinno, he spent more than 20 years at the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), most recently as a Principal Engineer, working across cellular and Wi-Fi wireless communications and video compression. He has contributed to standardization in IEEE 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6), IEEE 802.11ah, and IEEE 802.11ad, as well as IEEE 802.15.3c and ECMA-387, spanning both sub-7 GHz and millimeter-wave systems. In video compression, he participated in MPEG and JVET standardization on next-generation video coding technologies incorporating machine learning techniques.
Hyoungjin is an inventor or co-inventor on more than 100 patent applications in wireless communications and multimedia technologies.
