As the Director of the Advanced Media Lab (AML) at Ofinno, Chia-Yang leads a team of researchers and software engineers in driving JVET and MPEG standardization. His team’s work focuses on shaping the future of next-generation video compression and 3D video coding technologies.
Prior to joining Ofinno, Chia-Yang founded an AI-driven video encoder startup. He also served as a Tech Lead at Meta, supporting video infrastructure and real-time communication products. With over 20 years of expertise in HEVC, VVC, AV1, and video software and hardware, he has held pivotal roles as Chief Architect at RealNetworks and Technical Manager at MediaTek.
Chia-Yang holds over 100 granted patents and has authored more than 100 publications in the fields of video and AI. He previously served as the Co-chair of Publicity for the IEEE VSPTC and is a frequently invited speaker at industry events. He earned his Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. in Electronics Engineering from National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan.
