At Ofinno, Malcolm is developing next-generation Wi-Fi technologies that extend the current 802.11bn/Wi-Fi8 standard towards 802.11bx/Wi-Fi 9. His research focuses on high value use-cases for network operators (indoor & outdoor), infrastructure and device manufacturers. Leveraging the principles of intent-based networking and AI/ML prediction techniques to enhance and secure the experience of all ecosystem participants (users, IT, etc). With deep expertise in 802.11 innovation and standardization, Malcolm has played a key role in Wi-Fi initiatives through his active contributions to the Enterprise and Service Provider technology ecosystems. Before joining Ofinno, he served as CTO Advisor (Wireless) at Cisco, with over 18 years of experience in wireless strategy and innovation (including SEP development), specializing in IEEE 802.11 standards, applied research, RF network design and strategic technology planning. His work at Cisco focused on aligning Wi-Fi advancements with business outcomes by fostering partnerships with standards bodies, academic institutions, and industry alliances. Malcolm holds an M.Sc in Electrical Engineering, Certificate in Quantum Information Science and is pursuing an NSA designated M.Sc in AI for CyberSecurity. He is co-author of the Wi-Fi reference textbook “Wi-Fi 7 In Depth: Your guide to mastering Wi-Fi 7, the 802.11be protocol, and their deployment” (ISBN-13: 9780135323571), 1st author in 100s of issued/filed SEP patents and co-inventor in 100s more totaling a patent family of 800+.
