Ofinno, LLC is excited to announce the expansion of their research operation with the addition of a Video Compression team. This new team was created as a result of client demand. While the focus has historically been on wireless technologies, Ofinno’s expertise is leading the way into immersive media, including augmented and virtual reality. Ofinno’s work within the MPEG standards body includes Versatile Video Coding, 6 Degrees of Freedom, Genome Compression, Omnidirectional Media Format, Multi-Image Application format, Light Field Video, Point Cloud Compression, and Internet of Media Things. These innovations complement their expansive wireless patent portfolios.

The first expert to join the Video Compression team was Dr. Tae Meon Bae, a software engineer offering over 15 years of video technology expertise. Dr. Bae brings a tremendous level of experience working on machine learning for video understanding, video compression and streaming in academic and industrial domains. He has an impressive 112 international patent applications and 36 published international papers. Dr. Bae has proven success in designing and managing very large-scale systems with high availability. He specializes in MPEG standardization and has a reputation for successful commercialization of new technology.
