Ryan’s current research interests include energy saving for 6G networks, positioning, and ambient IoT. He is the inventor of over 300 patents, granted and pending. Ryan has been participating in 3GPP standards as a RAN1 delegate since 2018, including serving as a feature lead for enhanced positioning during Release-17. He received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the Ph.D. degree from Northwestern University.
