Jian (James) XU

Senior Staff Engineer

Jian (James) XU’s current research interests include Mobility (LTM and AI-based mobility), Data Collection, Extended Reality (XR), Quality of Experience (QoE), Ambient IoT (A-IoT) for 5G/6G. He is a 3GPP delegate of Ofinno.

Prior to joining Ofinno, he was a principal/chief research engineer at LG Electronics from Feb. 2009 to Nov. 2021. As a delegate of LG Electronics, he attended 3GPP RAN3 and RAN Plenary since Feb. 2010. He contributed more than 500 contributions to 3GPP including LTE/LTE-A and 5G NR/NG-RAN main features. He served as RAN3 rapporteur for Rel-14 LTE V2X SI/WI, Rel-16 NR V2X SI/WI and moderator for issues of EN-DC/MR-DC, NR mobility, network slicing etc. He has over 220 granted US patents and 12 peer-reviewed papers up to date.

He received his Ph.D. degree from Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea, in Feb. 2009.
